Heritage and Tastes of Inland Essaouira

Trip Overview

Venturing inland from Essaouira, our first stop is a lively Wednesday market, where local farmers sell fresh meat, livestock, fruits, and vegetables, and vendors offer fragrant spices and other goods in a vibrant weekly gathering. From there, we continue to the atmospheric ruins of a 16th-century sugar factory, once a center of trade and industry, now standing quietly among groves of Argan trees. The excursion concludes with a visit to a local women’s cooperative, where fresh goat cheese is produced by hand. Here, guests can enjoy tastings paired with condiments such as olive oil and honey, for an authentic taste of the region’s traditions.
